Finding yourself out of work can present huge challenges to your emotional and financial well being. Unemployment can cause you to question your skills and career decisions, lose important social contacts and doubt your ability to meet your basic expenses. It can affect family relationships and your own self confidence.

I started working as career counselor in 2000, and I've worked with almost two thousand clients who were dealing with unemployment. I've also experienced the unexpected loss of a job myself. All of that experience has taught me that with the right information and support, you can survive and even thrive through unemployment.

My goal for SUN Weekly, the Survive Unemployment Newsletter, is to help you make that happen. I hope to help you develop some strategies to manage while you are out of work and to see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Each week I'll post a new article on this site to help you find the confidence, skills and resources you need to navigate the challenges of unemployment and make the next phase in your career a positive one. By signing up for the newsletter, you'll get quick weekly updates on what's new on the Unemployment Site. That way you'll know when to come back for new information, and you won't miss any of the latest tips and resources.

Some of the future topics I have planned will include:
  • Embracing Simple Living
  • How to Lower Your Monthly Bills
  • Retraining – Is Going Back to School the Right Answer for You?
  • Rethinking Your Career Options
  • Dealing with Negative People

To sign up for your newsletter, look to the right of this article, or just scroll down to the bottom of this page and enter your email address in the box labeled "Free Newsletter." That's it! We won't ask you for any other personal information. When you sign up, you'll receive a confirmation email right away so you know your newsletter is not being filtered.

BellaOnline respects your privacy. Your email address will never be sold or shared; in fact, the newsletter is sent in a way that even I can't see your email address. If you'd like to unsubscribe at any time (maybe after you land your dream job), just use the link in the newsletter.

If you don't receive your confirmation email after you sign up, your spam filter is likely blocking it. Check your bulk, junk or spam folder; the message could be there. Then simply adjust your settings with your email provider to accept mail from BellaOnline.com and start receiving your newsletter.

You can reclaim your career and your confidence after the loss of a job. Just enter your email address below to get started!
