Marine/Reef
How to start, run and populate saltwater tanks of all kinds.
Beginning Saltwater Aquaria by Thomas Sasala [offsite link] A good FAQ contribution to TheKrib.com, it covers aspects from initial tank setup and planning to long term success. FINS: Reef Tank Case Study [offsite link] Details of how a particular reef tank setup was acheived. Gives a really good case study example of what can be done, though there are many other options to choose from. Nano Reef [offsite link] A nano reef is usually considered any marine tank that is 5-30 gallons and has a focus on corals. This is a great site for people with an interest in starting off smaller, because a nano is a very realistic setup for a beginner to take on, so long as they are prepared for research and ready to go slow. Reef Central [offsite link] In my humble opinion, THE first and last place to search for information on all aspects of marine, saltwater and reef care. A library full of in house articles, tons of forums, and a huge community that is frequented by just about everyone who has ever kept SW fish are just some of the things that make this my number one choice for marine sites. Reef Sources [offsite link] A nice concise site that gives basic info and even has some animated film clips. Reefs.org [offsite link] An impressive resource with many members, surveys, discussion boards, and in-house articles from a number of experts. Highly recommended. Saltwaterfish.com [offsite link] Commercial but very informative pages on marine aquaria. The Marine Fish and Invert Reef Aquarium by Albert J. Thiel [offsite link] Wow! Wonderful and comprehensive coverage of just about all aspects of marine aquarium care in multi-chapter book format... Read this for starters!! Highly recommended. The Reef Tank [offsite link] A beautiful and long-running site that has a large viewership and lots of in-house articles. Another fine marine site that is highly recommended. Wet Web Media: Marine Aquarium Articles and FAQ´s [offsite link] Excellent site that is packed to the gills with articles and information. Highly recommended. Links marked with the [offsite link] designation point to websites not associated with BellaOnline.com. BellaOnline.com is not responsible for the material found there.
