Investing Glossary star
Stock in a company is a share in ownership of that company. If you divide a company equally between 10 owners, each of those individuals owns 1/10th of the company. They are stockholders.

Market star
The Market is a brokerage term for the trading of stock and the industries associated with the trading of stock, as in the "Stock Market".

Ticker Symbol - Investing Glossary star
If you´ve looked at the financial section of a newspaper, you see lots of short letter codes. Those are ticker symbols, and each stands for a company.
