Master The Art Of Feeling Good (Part 5)

Master The Art Of Feeling Good (Part 5)
How do you deal with adversity?

By now you’re probably paying more attention to your thinking process. This observation of what you’ve been thinking is necessary before you can do anything to shift your thoughts to a higher plane. But, you’ll want to spend as little time as possible observing any of your negative mental conversations.

Sometimes it might seem impossible when you become aware of how much your attention is drawn to upsets, problems, complaints, guilt, blame and fears. Even when you’re “up” and your cup of life is full to overlowing with goodness, sometimes all you can see is the tiny speck of dirt in the bottom of your cup. It can be a shocker to discover just how much of your time is spent in worry, regret and random anxiety.

What do you want to pay attention to now that you understand paying attention to the dark side will only keep you in the dark? How do you shift your focus to the sunny side of life when the darkness is clamoring for your attention?

A great way to handle adversity, upset and circumstances that seem to be totally negative is to look for what’s positive about the situation. Sometimes you may have to stretch your creative faculties, but you can always create an empowering story. In Chinese, the symbols for “Crisis” + “Risk” = “Opportunity.” There is value in everything – no matter how “bad” or “wrong” it may seem to be.

Say you lose your job. Maybe you even get fired. That could be an opportunity to find work you like better or maybe you’ve been wanting to start your own business.

Whatever happens – whether it’s problems or catastrophe - you can find the value and the opportunity in it. Whereas being a victim of circumstances takes away your power, finding the value that’s always available to anyone, under any circumstances – no matter what they are – empowers you. It’s an important step and a valuable technique as you master the art of feeling good.
