Military-Member Golf Tournament

Military-Member Golf Tournament
I have a neighbor Cathy Permenter who is a promoter and owns PEFEO an events planning company. Cathy has organized an unusual golf mixer that includes members of our golf club playing with and sponsoring a soldier from Fort Hood Army Base from Killeen, Texas. In this way our community and Mill Creek Golf Club is showing their support by offering a free golf tournament to the sponsored soldiers who wants to participate.

Fort Hood Army soldiers will be invited to play for free for six week and play with local golfers. They play one day each week with a free dinner served at the end of each day’s play. Winners during each day of play are honored. Their scores will be accumulated during the six weeks and the best individual military scores will be involved in the Championship round at the end of the six weeks.

At the close of the six week period there will be a dinner with prizes and trophies awarded. No other community in the area has stepped forward and showed such support for our troops. This tournament is being organized to offer those being deployed within the next few months and to those just returning home from Iraq. It will give them a day away from Fort Hood and chance to play a round of golf with a local member at Mill Creek Golf Club in Salado, Texas.

The first event was this past Saturday afternoon with 65 soldiers participating in this unusual event. We hope it gave them a little relief from their duties and a chance to relax to a fun round of golf. I will keep you updated as to how things progress. I have sponsored a soldier but was unable to be at the first event which was this past Saturday. I plan to be involved and will include some pictures in following articles during the next weeks of the tournament.

These soldiers were most impressed that members of Mill Creek would take time out to play a round of golf with them. They enjoyed meeting the local golfers and are looking forward to the upcoming weeks of play. If anyone reading this article would want to help support and sponsor a soldier in this unique tournament, please email me and I can give you all the information you need and how to contact PEFEO the owner of this company.

I congratulate my neighbor Cathy for her great idea of promoting our military in ways that we can say THANK YOU for all they are doing for their country.
