I hope that the beginning of 2007 is finding you happy and healthy. January is an interesting month in that it winds down the old year and starts to build on the new year. In ancient times the midwinter festivities including Saturnalia and Christmas actually lasted for almost two weeks into January! But, in our modern times, January 1st it the time to take down the decorations and get out the long underwear.
Of course, according to folklore, it is bad luck for the entire year ahead if the Christmas decorations are not down by Jan. 6th. Twelfth night is still celebrated in some parts of the world, and in other parts of the world it is known as Epiphany.
