So, we have just finished a month of assorted predictions for the end of life as we know it. Apart from the thousands of folks for whom each day proves to be the End, the world seems to keep going. I find it interesting that such disparate groups chose the same month for their prophesies. (And yes, I did put off some housekeeping in favor of doing fun stuff--just in case, you know. Hey, any excuse works for me, these days, LOL!)
But it's not surprising that many of the idealistic young people with whom I grew up and have worked for years seem to have given up. Years of hoping and praying and making a difference have not yet provided release from the vagaries either of Nature or human perversity. I'm tired, and so are many others. We have grown old and scarred in our efforts to survive, let alone make the world a better place.
Yet, waiting for some outside source to take over doesn't work for me. I'm not expecting alien rescuers--or even God--to do my work for me. I think reality is a huge immersive learning environment and the main things we can change are our individual attitudes and behaviors.
I was lucky enough nearly 50 years ago to find a religious community that shares my hopes for the promised Kingdom on Earth not yet realized. Here's the latest article from the Baha'i site at BellaOnline.com.
Is It Too Late ?
So, is it too late in the day to prevent total annihilation? Bahá'ís don't think so.

- Is Mankind Redeemable?
Is it worth the effort? Can we as a species really clean up the messes we have made? Bahá'u'lláh, Prophet/Founder of the Bahá'í Faith, says yes. And His followers believe He provided the blueprint to do so.
