Beer Fox Tip of the Week:
Those who love Oktoberfest/Marzen pay homage to Gabriel Sedlmayr at this time of year, when Oktoberfest makes its way to the table. Traditionally, it was a modification of Vienna lager, more intense in toasted maltiness. A sign that the beer season was ending for the year, it was brewed in the Spring, then laid down in cold caves until Autumn. What better way to celebrate the season than with a smooth, clear, elegant beer with creamy texture and complex maltiness?

Beer Fox Laugh of the Week:
Woman's Quote of the Day:
"Men are like fine wine. They all start out like grapes, and it's our job to stomp on them and keep them in the dark until they mature into something with which you'd like to have dinner with."
Men's Quote of the Day:
"Women are like fine wine. They all start out fresh, fruity and intoxicating to the mind and then turn full-bodied with age until they go all sour and vinegary and give you a headache."
Beer News:
Guinness will be wearing a new color for the fall fashion season. In its newest launch, parent company Diageo introduces Guinness Red, a stout made with lightly roasted barley, to the British market. "Red" will have the frothy head, smooth mouthfeel and requirements for the same 2-part pour. The palate will have a sweeter malt profile, but the same 4.1% ABV.
Craft Brew of the Week Award:
Cottonwood Pumpkin Spiced Ale - Carolina Beer & Beverage LLC, Mooresville, North Carolina, USA
Style: Pumpkin Ale
A burnished body of rusted mahogany gives rise to a frothy head that dissipates to a thin layer. Carbonation is lively along the sides of the glass. The nose fills with cinnamon, a cooked vegetal earthiness, and pepper. Ah, the taste! Nutmeg, cinnamon, pumpkin earth, cloves, and clean citrus on the tongue. A lively mouthfeel enhances the experience. Delightful layers of complexity entice you into another go around. Nice seasonal treat!
Cheers!
