October 6 2012 German Culture Newsletter
October 6 is German-American Day, and this year is the 25th time it has been celebrated.
So this weeks article is about some FAMOUS GERMAN AMERICANS WHO MADE A DIFFERENCE
German Americans make up the USA's largest ancestry group, almost 25 percent of the population, and the first immigrants to the country left Germany in 1608. Those who followed emigrated mainly to make an improvement to the way their life had been "at home", and the work and lives of many of them, and their descendants, have had an effect not only in America but worldwide. And Charlie Brown, Snoopy and Apollo 10 are in there somewhere.

HEIZPILZ - A "heating mushroom", the tall outdoor heaters with mushroom like tops which are beginning to appear outside all cafes, to ensure their customers stay warm......and longer.
