My mother insisted that she had to contribute something to Thanksgiving dinner, even though we all said, "Mom, for years you did all of this work for our enjoyment. We wish you would let us do this for you and YOUR enjoyment."

I hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving Day with people you love and care about. As seniors we have the opportunity to make life interesting, not just to ourselves, but to our children and grandchildren, friends and strangers who may shake their heads and say, "I don't believe the whole thing!"

Last week I wrote the article below. This week I've added an article about recording our remembrances for family and local history's sake.

I'm the researcher for the renovation project of the oldest brick building in the state of Ohio. This town was VERY involved in the Underground Railroad. But it was such a dangerous undertaking that few wanted their names associated with it. How I wish there were diaries and journals for me to read and understand the local perspective of those dangerous times and events. If they exist, I have not yet found them. Thus, it's important to record those things somewhere. How is it that I didn't get around to this way of thinking until I reached the golden age?
