African American Culture

February 21 2010 African American Culture Newsletter

Greetings Dear friends!

I hope that this week is finding you full of joy and blessings.

What are you doing to celebrate Black History Month? I'd love to know. Each day we live is a celebration of who we are. Aren't you glad we are not limited to just one month!

There are two special articles that I wanted to share with you this week. They are a part of my history. I love doing research. I come from a very large family and had the privilege of meeting both grand parents, great grand parents and great great grand parents. So my mind is filled with family history.

I had a great time preparing these articles about a little bit of my paternal history. (As I am still compiling my maternal history.) I hope it inspires you to research your family tree. We have advanced so much in terms of research. But the best resource is always family. If you have a grandparent, great grand parent--cherish them, and listen to what they have to say, you mey be suprised what you find out.

Blessings! And thanks for sharing a part of my life with me. You are appreciated!

Ruthe

Embrace Your Greatness
As we celbrate Black History Month, let us remember that is more than a one time celebration. It should be a way of life. Each day we should celebrate who we are, where came from, and the greatness our lives behold.

Do You Know Your History?
This is part one of a historical journey into my paternal past. It is important to know where you come from. You cannot know where you are going until you understand where you come from. Thank you for sharing in this personal slice of my history.
