Beer News:
Blind Tiger Alehouse at 281 Bleecker Street in New York City is back in the draught! Yes, the Blind Tiger has overcome the challenges of the New York State Liquor Authority and has finally been granted a beer and wine license after a struggle that seemed to last forever.
After losing its 10-year lease and investing over a million bucks in renovations at the new Bleecker Street location, the Blind Tiger was denied a liquor license due to unjustified protests by Assemblywoman Deborah Glick and the Central Village Block Association. Reinventing itself as an upscale coffee bar for its opening day on September 5, 2006, the Blind Tiger continued in its quest for the golden fleece, positioned for an immediate transition as a beer palace, upon reinstatement of the license. On March 6, 2007, the "no" turned into a "YES!" - one that seemed to resonate throughout the city like the rumbling boil of an erupting volcano.

Craft Beer of the Week Award
Hop Sun - Southern Tier Brewing Company, Lakewood, New York, USA
Style: American Pale Wheat Ale
Lightly hazed amber gold dances before the eyes and is capped by a frothy, white head. The genie slithers around your nose, dusting it with citrusy orange and grapefruit in an attempt to seduce you into the glass. Crisp, light and peppery on the tongue, this goddess fills your head with tantalizing fruitiness, satiating wheat, and feathered layers from hop heaven.
Cheers!
