Beer Fox Tip of the Week

While drinking alcoholic beverages, the pituitary gland in the brain tends to block the production of vasopressin, an anti-diuretic hormone. Without this important chemical, the kidneys begin to function improperly by sending water directly to the bladder, instead of sending the toxins alone to the bladder and re-absorbing the water into the body. Drinkers then need to expel this water at a rate 4 times greater than the liquid they consume. The results of this is dehydration and the body becomes unable to produce an adequate amount of saliva to get rid of dead cells around the mouth and throat. One of the things that can help alleviate this is a product called "Breath Patrol." It is made of water soluble chlorophyll, citric acid and orange oil, and neutralizes the natural body acids that cause bad breath. Info:

Beer Fox Laugh of the Week

Ray & Bubba were standing at the base of a flagpole, looking up.

A woman walked by and asked what they were doing.

"We're supposed to find the height of the flagpole," said Bubba, "but we don't have a ladder."

The woman took a wrench from her purse, loosened a few bolts, and laid the pole down. Then she took a tape measure from her pocket, took a measurement, and announced, "Eighteen feet, six inches,"and walked away.

Ray shook his head and laughed. "Ain't that just like a woman! We ask for the height and she gives us the length!"

Bubba and Ray are currently working for the government...

... and helping to design the "stimulus package."

At every turn, importers are discovering the fine and creative products emerging from a land known for fine wine. "Mondial de la Biere wanted to establish ourselves in Europe, and Strasbourg, the French beer capital, was a natural choice," said Jeannine Marois, founder and president of the Mondial de la bière. At a time of « Dégustez peu, dégustez mieux » (taste sparingly, taste better), beer is taken to a higher cultural level, where hundreds of beers from across the world will awaken European taste buds as the craft brewing world gathers full speed and strength.

Craft Beer of the Week Award

La Roja, Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales, Dexter, Michigan, USA
Style: American Wild Ale - 7.2% ABV

Barrel aged and bottle conditioned, this assertive giant gleams bright copper with an off-ivory head. The nose fills with caramel and malt, with bourbon in the foreground. On the tongue, heat and pepper swirl around, but transform into a smooth silkiness. Flavors of whisky soaked sour-cherries and smoke mix with star anise, and disintegrate into more heat in the throat. Memorable!

Cheers!
