CAMRA - Real Cask Ale & The Great British Beer Festival
Much to their surprise, as word got out, CAMRA's membership leaped to 6,000 in the blink of an eye, and the little group in St. Albans realized they had struck a sensitive chord in the hearts of the public.

Real Ale - Cask Conditioning - Mark Dorber Style
The first Real Ale Festival in Chicago, Illinois needed the expertise of a well-seasoned Cellarman to help with critical equipment, the proper setup, optimal cellaring, and judging of the beer, so they looked across the pond to the UK where cask-conditioned beers were born.

Beer Fox Tip of the Week:
As Americans develop more sophistication in their palates, craft brewers are eager for their opinions. As part of the "Beer Lover's Choice Program," Boston Beer wants you, the Beer Lover, to help in the selection of the newest addition to the Samuel Adams Brewmaster's Collection.
During August and September of 2006, Samuel Adams will be holding tasting/voting events in cities across the USA, as beer connoisseurs prime their taste buds to choose between Honey Porter and Smoked Lager.
Honey Porter, first brewed in 1994, had been retired, but popular requests have brought it back to life. Smooth and sweet, with a roasted malt profile, this style of English Porter sings with a spicy belt of earthy hops, softened with Scottish Heather honey.
Smoked Lager is a Southern German Rauchbier, featuring smoked Bavarian malts and the sweetness of caramel and toffee.
For a schedule of tasting times and locations, go to:

Beer Fox Laugh of the Week:
Two blondes were working on a house.
The one who was nailing down siding, would reach into her nail pouch, pull out a nail and either toss it over her shoulder or nail it in. The other blonde, figuring this was worth looking into asked, "Why are you throwing those nails away?"
The first blonde explained, "If I pull a nail out of my pouch and it's pointed TOWARD me I throw it away 'cause it's defective. If it's pointed toward the HOUSE, then I nail it in!"
The second blonde got completely pissed off and yelled, "You MORON!!! The nails pointed toward you aren't defective! They're for the OTHER side of the house!!"
Beer News:
As the sky darkens to blackness and the summer moon washes a sleek ocean, thoughts of midnight seduction send tingles up your spine. Midnight Wit, the newest temptation of the Legacy Brewing portfolio, paints the air with aromas of Florida Orange, Island Grapefruit, Kiwi, and Tropical Lemon drenched in chamomile and spice. The sunlit-straw body joins center stage with a tight, creamy head, while curtains of dense fluff cling to the inner surfaces of crystal.
Spicy flavors ignite the citrus character, applauding Belgian tradition that echoes in explosive resonance. Effervescence awakens the tongue. Tropical sharpness is softened by slick nuances of silken pleasure.
Look for Legacy Brewing on Canal Street in Reading, Pennsylvania. Legacy launched the famous Hedonism, an American Amber/Red Ale that garnered national attention a few months ago with their "hot" red, risque label and
complex, fruity character. Midnight Wit and Hedonism are the first two of the Legacy Brewing family to be bottled for wider distribution. Legacy's strong growth curve in the microbrew sector commands attention. Watch this little gem in the years ahead!
Craft Brew of the Week Award:
Pure Hoppiness- Alpine Beer Company, Alpine, California, USA
Style - American Double IPA
A deep topaz body lies quietly beneath a dense, soapy foam head, embellishing the olfactory senses with earth, florals, and the sweet fruit of fresh apricots, mangoes and orange peel. Bubbles seem to slither up the sides of the glass, while a satiating maltiness peeks through the hop forest. With sudden urgency, a full chorus of hops cones break the silence, while the high alcohol sneaks in to warm an unsuspecting head. A refreshing experience of intense joy for the hophead!
Cheers!
