Real Ale in Japan - Yona Yona Beer
During his tenure at Stone Brewing from 1998 to 2001, this talented brewer was cultivating preferences for saccharomyces cerevisiae, cask conditioned real ale, and the art of creating new styles of beer that had long been non-existent in the Japanese world of pale lagers and saki.

Polish Beer & Eastern European Cuisine
Upon entering this lovely Polish restaurant, the subtle flavor of Eastern European hospitality brought back fond memories of traditions that were a part of my own childhood. Was it the nondescript aromas of delicately merged cuisine in the background...?

Beer Fox Tip of the Week:
Get ready for Victory Brewing Fall Fest 2006 on Saturday, September 30, 2006 from 2-9 p.m. at the Victory brewhouse at 420 Acorn Lane, Downingtown, Pennsylvania, USA.
This promises to be a Fall fest at its best! The air will be filled with music by the Philadelphia Bluegrass Band and Lukens German Band (introduced by U.S. Congressman Jim Gerlach)...PLUS...the Loweriders FreeCycle Bicycle Stunt Team, an aerial and acrobatic team will be showing-off their stuff in high-flying fashion. Twenty historic Porche vehicles from the Riesentöter Region Porsche Club of America will also wow festival-goers in an all-day display of class and style.
For those who want to feel like a wildcat with a bag of catnip, Ron Barchet, co-founder of Victory Brewing, will present a special hops seminar, highlighting the hops varieties used in Victory's flavorful beers.
The Victory Beer Garden Tent will hold the gold - lots of amber Victory Brews on tap, along with satiating German ethnic foods, a pig roast and chilly ice cream.

Beer Fox Laugh of the Week:
When signs makers go on strike, is there anything written on their picket signs?
When you open a new bag of cotton balls, is the top one meant to be thrown away?
When your pet bird sees you reading the newspaper, does he wonder why you're sitting there, staring at the carpet?
Where do forest rangers go to get away from it all?
Why do they report power outages on T.V.?
If you lick the air, does it get wet?
If a policeman arrests a mime, does he have to read him his right to remain silent?
Beer News:
Sapporo Breweries, Ltd. of Japan has entered an offer to acquire Sleeman Breweries, Ltd. of Guelph, Ontario, for $400 million.
The upbeat offer was received favorably by John Sleeman, Chairman and CEO of Sleeman. In a great display of confidence in Sleeman's workforce, brands (including Unibroue of Chambly, Quebec), and facilities, Sapporo offered $17.50 per share, a more generous offer than the current $14.83 price in market trading.
If all conditions are met, the deal could be closed by mid-October of 2006.
Craft Brew of the Week Award:
Pikeland Pils - Sly Fox Brewing Company, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, USA
Style - German Pilsener
A balanced hop monster (Is there such a thing?), this sparkling body of golden straw is capped by a bright white head of foamy cream, with intricate lacing that sticks to the glass. Brewed with 100% German pilsener malts, flavors are bready in the middle with the heat of pepper sprinkled over grassy, floral German and Czech (Saaz?) hops. Small bubbles and light carbonation come alive in the mouth. Satisfying for the hophead, yet restrained enough to please a lager lover!
Cheers!
