Jess Streeter Faces a Daunting Competition
As the Beer Fox and co- founder of the Philly Beer Geek Championship, I have the annual task of interviewing the stars of the Philly Beer Scene. In this interview, Jess Streeter, Philly Beer Geek 2014, reveals her innermost thoughts about the competition process.

The Winning Side of Philly Beer Geek Jess Streeter
As one of the founders of the Philly Beer Geek competition, I am privileged to meet the most dedicated people in Philadelphia beer. Not only do I meet them, but I also get to pick their brains to find out what really makes them tick, how they think, and what they feel during the competition..

Pecan Saison Coffee Cake & Dubbel Biscuits Recipes
Serving brunch? Nothing goes better than sour cream and Saison for making a coffee cake or quick bread for the occasion. The two ingredients combine well to create a buttermilk substitute which lends itself well to baking.

Beer Geek Feeding Frenzy
For a beer geek, knowing beer – really knowing beer – is one of the greatest joys in the world. Some may scoff at the idea of acquiring knowledge about beer, but when one considers how vast the beer universe is, beer knowledge is a true accomplishment.

Bourbon Drenched Cranberry Bread Recipe
Nothing is quite so satisfying than sweet, bourbon-soaked cranberries, hidden deep within a tasty wheat loaf. Damon Bourbon-Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout from Hill Farmstead Brewery in Vermont has the lusty, boozy profile that makes cranberries sing with flavor.

Philly Beer Geek Success Stories
As spring blossoms begin to fade and pollen layers your spiffy white car with yellow dust, beer geeks in Philadelphia get the itch for some serious beer games. These are not just any games.

Biblical Brew-Off Ferments Interfaith Love

It’s a question as old as the ages, flaming out of the brew kettle … a question that Rabbi Eli Freedman has studied in the Torah and in the Talmud, boiling in the vessel for more than 2,000 years.

Philly Beer Geek Creates Free Will I Am

If you are a true Beer Geek, you know how it feels. You find yourself searching the web for beer-quiz trivia, covering the answers, while sucking down a Belgian Dubbel cooled to precisely 49° F.

And From the Beer Fox Archives:

White IPA - Bouquet of Wheat and Spice
If you are a fan of India Pale Ale, commonly referred to as IPA, you may regularly drink several versions of this very popular style, including American IPA, English IPA, and Imperial IPA.

Beer Fox Tip of the Week

Are you traveling the world for a beer experience this summer? Tim Webb and Stephen Beaumont offer these tips in “The World Atlas of Beer”:

France: “Always nod, make eye contact, and wish customers “Bonjour!” when entering a café.”
Italy: “Expect to pay as much for fine beer as you would for a wine of good quality.”
Netherlands: “Bars with peanuts expect the shells to be thrown on the floor to keep it oiled.”
Czech Republic: “Etiquette dictates that men enter bars ahead of women – to check for brawling.”
Australia: “Australians are fanatical about ice-cold beer. The further north you go, the hotter it gets, so beer glasses get correspondingly smaller to prevent the beer from getting warm before you finish it.”
Canada: “In Quebec, expect to order your beer by colour: blanche for a wheat beer, brune for a brown ale, rouse for amber ale or lager and noir for a stout.”
Japan: “In many bars, the glasses are small, so you can share your beer with friends.”

Beer Fox Laugh of the Week

A Summer blonde goes up to the lady at the counter and says out loud: “I'd like to order a burger, French fries and a milkshake.”

The lady looks up and replies, “This is a library.”

The blonde turns around and sees people reading books. She then looks back at the lady and smiles while whispering, “I'd like to order a burger, French fries and a milkshake.”
