Welcome to Healthy Bites, the BellaOnline Healthy Foods Newsletter

In this newsletter - Smoothie Recipes, Starting your Healthy Eating Lifestyle, and welcome from the new editor.

Healthy eating means so much more than salads and calorie counters. You can eat 1800 calories by consuming 4 McDonald’s milkshakes or by eating a variety of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. You get my point.

Do you want to start eating healthy but just not sure where to start? Do you want to take your eating habits up a notch? Here are three simple steps to make sure you are feeding your body the nutrients it needs.

Smoothie lovers rejoice! No more bland protein shakes out of bottles or the same old frozen banana and berries smoothie. Here are four simple, and easily adaptable, recipes that will recharge your blender. Hello from your new editor, Christina (formally Dr. Christina Tangora Schlachter, PhD, but let’s keep it real). I am thrilled to connect with so many diverse and creative women through this wonderful network. My journey to eating healthy had a bumpy road - my lunch consisted of Skor Chocolate Bars and diet Coke throughout my high school years. After struggling with how to live a healthy balanced life, I am now passionate about making sure what goes in my body belongs there. Please let me know how I can make this site and newsletter meet your needs. You can reach me at I look forward to hearing from you and promise to respond to everyone’s emails.

So many people complain about how much more it costs to eat organic and local produce rather than mass produced, nutritionally void foods. The average co-pay for blood pressure medicine is about $50 ($600 a YEAR!). That can buy a lot of good food. I love Whole Foods 365 brand - the chain’s affordable line of organic and hormone free products. Check out Whole Foods for recipes, healthy living advice, and sign-up for coupons. (P.S. - Kids club members get a free sampling of healthy foods when they shop with their parents!)
