In the 18th and 19th centuries, Flammkuchen was a lunchtime meal known only to those living in Alsace who either had bread ovens or knew someone who did, now this 'Pizza, Alsatian-style' is a favourite with Germans and travellers alike.

Originating in a part of Europe that has spent much of the last centuries being a part of either France or Germany, it is a simple, delicious combination of classic ingredients on a wafer thin pizza type crust, and literally translated means 'Flaming Cake'. Why? Read about it here:
