The latest article from German Culture at BellaOnline.com is a recipe for:

STRAMMER MAX, a delicious and simple to put together open faced sandwich, which has been one of Germany's most popular 'anytime' meals for generations, both at home and 'unterwegs', (while out and about), in anything from bars to restaurants. It comes in several variations and all of them are worth trying.

While after an April which at least in Europe has lived up to the German proverb, 'April, April, der macht was er will........April, April it does what it wants', now May and Spring are knocking on the door, so we can hope for at least some days that live up to the word of the week:

KAISERWETTER, meaning 'sunny weather', and dating from the time when Kaiser William II, Kaiser Bill of WWI, would only make public open air appearances when it was a day with lots of sun.

Mainly because the sun combined with a deep blue cloudless sky made for good photographs, which showed him off to his best advantage.
