About the BellaOnline SF/Fantasy Books Editor

Evelyn Rainey lives very quietly in a small southern town with her two dogs, four cats, and thousands of home-grown tadpoles and frogs (don´t ask). She spends her time in this incarnation teaching, writing, and running two publishing companies and a literary agency.

Her online presence includes Evelyn-Rainey.com, WritingRainey.blogspot.com, Facebook (WritingRainey) and Twitter (EvelynRainey). Her businesses are Denouement Literary Agency "Where Authors & Publishers Tie the Knot" (DenouementLit.com), Bliss Books "Building Life-long Inspirational & Successful Strategies" (BLISSBooksOnline.com), and Portals Publishing "The Best Books are Portals to a New World" which specializes in Science Fiction and Fantasy books (PortalsPublishing.com).

Evelyn Rainey´s first novel Minna Pegeen was published in 2011 (Fantasy ISBN 978-1935361381 Comfort Publishing) and was followed by Bedina´s War in 2012 (Science Fiction ISBN 978-1936695881 Comfort Publishing). Perky’s Books & Gifts (Urban Fantasy ISBN 9781939065377 Bedlam Press 2013) is her third novel and began to take form while she worked at Books-a-Million for six years as a part-time paperback specialist and Red Badge. The Island Remains (Historical Fiction ISBN 978-1-61160-845-8 Whiskey Creek Press July 2014) and Laughing Humans (Science Fiction ISBN 978-0692518908 Portals Publishing August 2015) followed and helped cement the "one book a year" goal she set for herself back in 2010. Guest author appearances have included the 2012 Carolina Renaissance Festival, ALT*Con, CreativeComicCon and Necronomicon as well as dozens of guest speaker events where she taught various aspects of Writing. She has also been published in anthologies, magazines, columns, and newspapers.

For ten years, she facilitated Writers for All Seasons (writers4allseasons.blogspot.com) and now edits their yearly anthologies. She has been an educator for over three decades with certifications in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Middle School Integrated Curriculum, English for Speakers of Other Languages, Gifted Education, and Journalism. Outside of the school system, she is an herbalist, a singer and she loves to do book-signings.

Evelyn was the Veterans columnist for BellaOnline for three years and believes without a doubt that this was what helped her develop the discipline and experience to become a published author. Now, she is delighted to return and write this column for lovers of Science Fiction and Fantasy books.
