Trigun 1 - The $$60,000,000,000 Man
Guest Author - The Futile Existence

The first episode of Vash the Stampede introduces us to Vash the Goofy, and the various characters that populate his Western universe. The show opens with a group of bounty hunters completely blasting apart a saloon, with only Vash surviving in the midst of the wreckage. The black cat is sitting with the two guys at a table at the begining of the shot.

A sheriff decides to head after Vash, and at the same time a mowhawked giant grabs Vash and ties him up. Into the group walks a pair of insurance agents - Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson. The two bring boxes of donuts to sweet-talk the giant - who they think is Vash - into behaving so he stops destroying so many local towns.

The Sheriff and Giant both believe the other is Vash, and in the confusion the real Vash and two women escape. Soon the women are captured, and Vash rides in to their rescue.

This first episode isn't as funny as many of the later ones - its main job is to set the tone of the series and get the characters introduced. There are a few swear words, so it's not quite for the youngest kids. Once you have a basic understanding of who each character is and what they are like, the later episodes can then play off of that and have some wild fun!

Kuroneko-sama Sighting
He's leering at the two girls as they first enter the bar.
