Prioritizing Your Time
We live in a busy world. Everything is hustle and bustle all of the time. We only have 24 hours in the day. I often jokingly say, “if only I had one more hour”. Of course we know that we are not in control of the numbers of hours in the day. Although we are in control of the way we spend our time during that day.
The Lord in fact, gave us free will. According to the bible, everything is permissible (allowable and lawful) for me; but not all things are helpful (good for me to do, expedient and profitable when considered with other things). Everything is lawful for me, but I will not become the slave of anything or be brought under its power. 1 Corinthians 6:12 AMP. Although everything is lawful or allowable to us, everything will not help us to fulfill our purpose in this life.
We have to ask ourselves, is this task going to help me to accomplish our God given assignment in this life? Every human being on earth was born with a purpose. Regardless of the circumstances in which we were conceived, there was a purpose behind it. There is something that every one of us was assigned to do. The good thing is that the Holy Spirit will guide us to fulfill that purpose if we allow him to.
When we are confident that we have a relationship with God, we can be assured that our prayers will be answered. We can be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, and faithful in prayer knowing that our decisions are sound ones and that they will lead to the finished work that we were purposed to complete.
Prayer is our way of communicating with God. When prioritizing the day, make it a habit to ask the one that created you. Go to God in prayer in all things. 1 John 5:13 – 15 says I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. 14 This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.
Approach the Throne of God in everything that you do, including planning and prioritizing your day. In doing this, you will be relieved of the fear of being outside of God’s will. We may have a list of things to do that you believe you must accomplish. The question is: Where does it lie on my priority list?
