Jones is the hero of the Junie B. Jones first reader series. The story book is for elementary children making the transition from picture books to chapter books. The sixty-six page adventure book has eight chapters. That is an average of eight pages including Denise Brunkus’ illustrations per chapter. Barbara Park does a great job of writing a humorous story. Many adults consider Junie B. Jones a brat. The five-year-old’s logic and outlook on the world are a bit different. However, what is exciting and funny about a demure five-year-old girl? Early elementary kids understand her and love her adventures. Junie B. Jones and some Sneaky, Peeky Spying will delight them. Children need a regular routine. A set bedtime and place to sleep are part of the daily routine. Read a bedtime story as part of the nightly ritual. Read quiet, soothing books to children in their warm, comfortable bed.
