Ground Round on Low Carb / Atkins

Ground Round on Low Carb / Atkins
I've loved the Ground Round since I was little. Free popcorn, fun movies, comfortable food in a comfortable setting. How can you eat low carb and Atkins at the Ground Round?

Note: Ground Round has a New Low Carb Menu!

First, the famous popcorn is about 6g per cup so depending on what part of the diet you're in, this might or might not be a reasonable treat for you. I love popcorn so I'm quite happy to splurge on the popcorn eating and just eat pretty much zero-carb items for dinner.

Broccoli and cheese soup can be either great or awful for you. If it's made without flour or cornstarch, it's perfect. If they make it with a thickener, it can be 15g per serving. Ask how the restaurant you're in makes theirs.

We were very pleased with the wide range of menu offerings that were low carb friendly. They had chicken and beef skewer appetizers that came with a sauce, but we simply avoided the sweet sauce and ate them plain. They had mild flavoring on them which was perfect. 0g carbs!

For the main dish, they had a good selection of dishes ranging from steaks to fish to chicken and more that were low carb. My boyfriend went with a steak dish and I chose fajitas. Yes, fajitas come with tortillas, but you simply don't use them! You are given sizzling-fresh steak, onions, peppers, sour cream, cheese, tomatoes and lettuce and just eat them together. It was delicious!

We had a nice Shiraz (red wine) with the meal which was perfect. Ground Rounds have a reasonable set of choices for wine so you're sure to find one that matches your own taste. Drink lots of water, too!

This is definitely a great place for low carb dieters to eat well.
