Spiritual Warriors of the Human Tribe
The ancient tribes from all over the world had an understanding of the interconnectedness of all things. They knew that if we took from the earth we must give back to the earth. The Hopi have a story about Indian Corn. They say that in every ear of Indian Corn there are the colors of all the tribes of humankind.
Somewhere along the way humankind forgot about the web that weaves us all together. The old teachings gave way to technology and science, and the nature based spirituality gave way to organized religion. The innocence of simple faith and belief in a Great Creator became a long list of rules and regulations to “speak” to an unreachable deity who art in heaven.
Recently, many of the tribes who held fast to the old teachings in the midst of a chaotic world, have come forward to share their sacred teachings. The Hopi went to the United Nations and told their prophecy. Inherent in that prophecy is a warning of things to come if humankind cannot join together in an effort to heal this wonderful planet that we all live upon.
All of humankind needs to relearn the simple lessons of honor and respect for our animal brothers and sisters, and the plant and mineral kingdoms that share our world. And, humankind also has to start to treat one another with more compassion, tolerance and understanding. Bigotry and prejudice should not have a place in our world.
Those who are banding together now, as teachers, Medicine People, healers and modern day Shamans, whatever their race, color or creed, are reclaiming a heritage of a more spiritual and simple way of life. We are the new beginnings of an old and beautiful web of life that brings back a wisdom that leads us once more to the heart center of the earth itself.
This is a journey which joins the past and the future into the present time. It is a way to join together once more in love, respect and honor for our Mother the Earth, along with our four-legged and winged brothers and sisters. Together, we will rediscover the blessings that we have been given, but have forgotten how to appreciate.
We are the Spiritual Warriors, and our tools are compassion, tolerance, understanding and peace.
“O' Great Spirit, Whose voice I hear in the winds, And whose breath gives life to all the world, hear me! I am small and weak, I need your strength and wisdom.
Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple Sunset.
Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice.
Make me wise, so that I may understand the things you have taught my people.
Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.
I seek strength , not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy--myself.
Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes.
So when life fades, as the fading Sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame.”
