Brother Bear explores the powerful and playful bond between brothers and mans bond with nature in this great drama and comedy created by Walt Disney Pictures. Set against the majestic natural splendor of the Pacific Northwest before the invasion of the white man, Brother Bear explores brotherhood, bears and breathtaking outdoor adventure by telling the story of the youngest son (Kenai, voiced by Joaquin Phoenix) of a kind and wise chief and leader who is killed by a bear when he accidentally disturbs a mother bear and her cubs. Enraged by the incident and the fact that his older brother, the new chief, refuses to form a hunting party right away, Kenai sets out to hunt the bear himself. During his hunt for vengeance, Kenai's life takes an unexpected turn when the Great Spirit, the spirits of the forest, transforms him into a bear, the creature that he dislikes most. From his new perspective, Kenai is forced to examine the world through the eyes of another as he sets out to regain his original human form. Another unexpected turn of events occurs when he finds himself pursued by his own brother, who does not realize that Kenai is now a bear, in order to avenge their father's death and restore their family's honor.

Along Kenai's adventure, he is befriended by an adorable, yet talkative, pesky little bear cub by the name of Koda. Kenai has a hilarious encounter with a couple of misguided moose while journeying across the northern territory, glacial caverns, frosty tundra and a valley of fire and treacherous gorges. Kenai is forced to re-examine all that he knows and learns a valuable lessons about the cycle of life and the true meaning of brotherhood. In the end, Kenai realizes that his physical transformation from man to bear is of little importance compared to the changes that have occurred within him.
