Michelob Ultra - Low Carb Beer

Michelob Ultra - Low Carb Beer
Michelob Ultra is a low carb beer which, from its first day, boasted only 2.6g of carbohydrates. How does this low carb beer compare to others out there?

Well first, other low carb beers are often in the 5g range. So on one hand this is much lower carb - but the result is that you lose a lot of the body and flavor that the "lost" 2.4g would have given you. This is one of those personal decisions you have to make - would you rather have two watery beers or one really good one?

Michelob Ultra - Low Carb Beer

It's not that this is bad. It has a very light flavor and a very light texture. A mild aftertaste and then it's gone.

To me it's sort of like drinking flavored water with a bit of sparkle in it. I suppose that does sound sort of bad :). But my point is, if you're sitting around in a bar for an afternoon and scarfing down peanuts and other stuff, this wouldn't be bad at all. It's something to drink with your peanuts. However, if you're having a delicious steak dinner and want a beer with it, I'd go with something more flavorful.

I also want to comment that when you serve the Michelob Ultra at normal "very cold" temperatures, that mutes the flavors and it just seems "light". If you let it warm up a little bit, so the flavors are more rich, it actually gives it more body and flavor.
