Rowan Tree Foundation Review
The Rowan Tree Foundation is a Colorado-based organization which aims to provide support for miscarriage, stillbirth, infant death and other child loss. They state that their vision is of a world where “pregnancy and infant loss is treated openly and bereaved families are given the support they need free of charge.” Then in big letters elsewhere in the About Us section of their site, they say “Because It Is Okay To Talk About Child Loss.” Their website also says that it doesn't matter how long you held a child in your womb or in your arms; all these losses can be terrible.
The website includes a large selection of resources. These include traditional resources about dealing with grief and also memorial items. Additionally, there are resources for grieving children and resources which deal with specific prenatal diagnoses as well as other resources.
The site includes a place where memorials can be posted as well as a forum where people can share their stories, ask questions or get online support form others.
The foundation sponsors support groups at two different locations in Colorado as well as offering virtual support online. Additionally, the organizations sponsors memorial events such as a butterfly release and benefits. The group has a memorial garden located in Parker, Colorado. There are also helpful general interest articles on the site's homepage. These include topics such as parenting after a loss and trying to maintain objectivity.
You can order keepsake and awareness items through the group's website. Additionally, the group is involved with increasing awareness of pregnancy, infant and child loss. The group is currently working with the state of Colorado to get a license plate promoting child loss awareness. The group also sponsors a project called Lovenotes. This program makes “handmade, personalized keepsakes made in memory of a child by loving volunteers.”
You can contact the Rowan Tree Foundation and they can create a personal page specifically for your baby. You can use the page to create an online memorial for your child with pictures and stories. This service is provided for free.
I would definitely recommend checking this site out or utilizing their physical resources if you live in the Colorado area. You can check their website out at www.rownatreefoundation.org.
