Friends Among Pro Golfers
Golf is such a one person sport and you are up against the field of great golfers that sometimes it can be very lonely. As for the Europeans they sort of banded together and spent time together off the golf course. Sometime it could be colleges they attended or golf clubs they belonged too or their other interests outside of golf. This does help the new young Pro’s when they form friendships with other players.
This articles covers other Pro’s some who live in the same communities such as Sea Island in Georgia. Zach Johnson says his best buddies are the ones who’s wives hang out together. On his list is Jonathan Byrd, Stewart Cink and Matt Kuchar. Zach says they have the same value system and will take trips together other than golf tournaments.
Another foursome is golf friendships are Bubba Watson, Ben Crane, Rickie Fowler and Hunter Mahan who say away from the tour you just let out the air out of the balloon. It’s a way of relaxing away from golf with friends in the same situation.
The big four in 1989 was Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Lee Trevino. So the chance to buddy up with other Pro golfers has been going on for some time. Many of these golfers live in Florida or along the warmer climates. This gives them a chance to work on their golf game and get together with others players in the area. The standard line is that on some of the ranges it looks like a tour event. You may even seen some of the Women Professionals also practicing on the range or join in a Wolf game with the boys.
Tiger Woods also has had his playing partner in Mark O’Meara and John Cook. He also will join up with star athletes as Marcus Allen, Andre Reed, Ahmad Rashad and Michael Jordan.. Woods would also join up with some of the junior members but his closest buddy from college is Notah Begay III. This was an interesting article of friendships formed by the golf professional players. It shows how those who love the game and are great players seems to find friends who have the same interests as themselves.
