Low Carb Success Story - 54 Year Old Diabetic

Low Carb Success Story - 54 Year Old Diabetic
A 54 year old diabetic went on Atkins as she approached 300 pounds. After 7 months she had lost 40 pounds and no longer needed to use insulin. Here is her story, written March 2004!

----------------------------------

I am a 54 year old diabetic female. Last summer I was so tired. My feet were killing me after work, and I had no energy. I finally weighed myself and found that I had gained 20 pounds, rather quickly. I had been weighing 250 lbs. for a long time. At 272, I knew I had to do something quick, before the scale said 300.

I had heard about the Atkins Diet from some co-workers and some friends. I decided to go to the library one day last July, checked out a few books. Atkins diet revolution and the Carb Addicts Diet. After reading them both ----I knew I was a carb addict. I never ate a lot of food, and had been doing the low fat thing, but was certainly eating the wrong foods.

I started the Atkins diet on August 1, 2003, and weighed in March 1, 2004 at 232 lbs. I know lots of people who have lost more weight in that time, and lots who have not lost as much.

I want to lose 60 more pounds, for a total of 100. I hoped to achieve this in one year. I will do it, but it may take longer. I typically eat lots of meat, eggs, cheese and salads. I have a huge salad every day. I try not to use the already made, bought products that are out there, as I find I don't lose as much. But they do come in handy.

I have found a new way of life. I have not had to take insulin in 6 months. I feel so much better, and have lots more energy.

I now know that I don't have to be hungry to diet, and I am not afraid to eat when I am hungry. I know that I will never again eat too many carbs, and sugary things are not even looking good anymore. I also drink between 80-100 oz of water daily.
