Archangel Michael, “Who is as God,” is the highest ranking archangel among all three of the major religions. He is also the most powerful of angels, and is frequently portrayed wearing a coat of armor and wielding a flaming sword.

In the Dead Sea Scrolls, Michael is referred to as the Prince of Light, and battles, along with his army of Light, against the armies of Darkness. He rescued Daniel from the lion’s den and appeared to Moses in the burning bush. He is also known to be a dragon slayer.

He is, obviously, quite a powerful angel, and known for his ability to protect and defend. He is the patron saint of those in the armed services, policemen and travelers,

Archangel Michael is one of the first angels I ever worked with. I had stumbled across a prayer of protection that called upon him in times of crisis. At the time I was experiencing sleep disturbances. I would wake up in the night filled with fear because something would be holding my foot. At first I thought it may be the spirit of a recently deceased loved one (my father in law) but then I realized he would never fill me with such terror. Previously I had just had to wait for it to leave. But when I discovered Archangel Michael’s prayer of protection I used it! I went for weeks without feeling the presence. One night I forget to say the prayer of protection, and the presence returned. As soon as I felt it grab my foot I yelled for Archangel Michael (in my head) and it instantly vanished. It had never left that quickly before! And it has not returned.

The prayer of protection that I use is:

Archangel Michael before me,
Archangel Michael behind me,
Archangel Michael above me,
Archangel Michael below me,
Archangel Michael all around me,
Archangel Michael, with me now!
I Am his Love protecting here!
I Am his Love protecting here!
I Am his Love protecting here!*

Archangel Michael is available to help us with anything from easing our fears, protecting us while we travel or work, protecting our home, and even guiding and protecting us along our spiritual path. Archangel Michael is a messenger of God, and is here to spread peace and love.

Don’t feel that because he is such an important angel, that you should never call upon him. Angels can be in many places at once. Call upon Archangel Michael whenever you feel the need for a bit of courage and support along your journey.
