Flavored Vodkas on Low Carb Sure, we know that straight vodka has 0g carbs and is great for mixed drinks. But how about all those flavored vodkas that are springing up? From the Absolut website - "Vodka contains 9.6 MJ (2300 kcal)/liter. ABSOLUT VODKA consists of almost exclusively alcohol and water and does not contain carbohydrates. This information is also valid for the flavored ABSOLUT vodkas." It makes you wonder just what they are using as a flavoring, if it's not the natural fruit which would have sugars in it! When I wrote Absolut and asked them about this, here was their response: "Our products contain no carbohydrates. Flavour suppliers produce aroma substances according to our recipe from natural ingredients. During this production process both sugar (carbohydrate) and colorings are extracted. The contents of sugar has been controlled several times and never has been detected." I'm in the processing of asking Grey Goose Vodka about their products, but I imagine it's the same for them. Note that just because alcohol has no carbs does NOT mean you can drink unlimited alcohol and lose weight. Alcohol still has calories, and your body burns that alcohol before it burns carbs. So it can easily stall your weight loss if not make you gain weight, depending on how much you eat.
