Healthy New Year's Resolutions


A traditional New Year's activity is to make resolutions about bettering your life and your health. Here are some ideas for healthy New Year's resolutions that you can actually keep!

DRINK MORE WATER
Just about every person could use more water in their daily routine. Ample water helps to keep your metabolism running properly, meaning you stay healthy and reach a good weight. Find a pitcher or water bottle you like, and keep it near you. Carry one in your car, and keep one on your desk. You might be surprised at how easy it is to drink more water when it's right there.

TAKE DAILY MULTIVITAMINS
Literally no human diet can meet all of your daily vitamin needs on an every day basis. Your body doesn't store many vitamins on a day to day basis. For example, every day you have to take in the correct amount of Vitamin C to keep your skin and gums healthy. Make sure you get a good multivitamin and take it every day.

GET ADEQUATE SLEEP
You might think that good sleep isn't really involved with a healthy weight, but they are VERY closely linked! We all lead very busy lives and the temptation to skimp on sleep is strong. However, numerous studies have tied lack of sleep to poor health, poor mental functioning and much more. Make this an important part of your life. Read up on all the tips to sleep as well as you can, and follow them. If you get a good sleep, the rest of the day goes far more smoothly.

RELAX
There are many things in life outside your control. If you let yourself get stressed about them, it builds up hormones in your system which affect your weight and health. It's not worth it! Learn techniques to meditate and release stress. You cannot control the world around you - but you can control how you react to it. The more content you choose to be, the healthier you will be.

SMALL, REGULAR SNACKS
You want your body to be on even a keel as possible. You want to eat healthy, regular snacks so that your body always feels food is available. That way it gets a steady stream of energy and knows it can burn off that excess fat as needed.
