Happy Hubby Hot Fudge Sauce Recipe
Not all hot fudge sauce recipes are equal. Those that incorporate granulated sugar into the recipe require a bit more diligence to avoid graininess while those that call for marshmallow fluff lack the smooth texture that makes hot fudge sauce so sublime. My husband’s favorite sauce recipe uses sweetened condensed milk and butter (no granulated sugar) so the result is pure silky goodness.
Quick and easy, this sauce makes great gifts. Just pour into a sterilized, wide-mouthed jar, tie a ribbon around the rim with a tag and includes the storing and heating instructions.
Silky Hot Fudge Sauce
1 (14 oz.) can of sweetened condensed milk
4 (1 oz.) squares of semi-sweet chocolate OR ¾ cup chocolate chips
1 Tbsp. butter (not margarine)
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
In a small saucepan, heat the sweetened condensed milk over low heat until very warm, stirring slowly. (Do not bring to a simmer or a boil.) Add chocolate and stir until melted. Add butter and stir until melted, too. Remove from heat. Add vanilla extract and stir until the mixture is silky smooth. Serve immediately over ice cream or store as follows:
To store: Pour into sterilized wide-mouthed jars. Wipe rims. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
On a gift tag, write these directions: To serve, scoop out desired amount of hot fudge sauce and place into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat on medium-high power in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until the sauce is hot and smooth. Store unused sauce, covered, in refrigerator.
You may ask, “Why is this recipe on a site about marriage?” Let me tell you that a wise wife—or husband—never underestimates the power of sweet seduction. I’m not the only one with this knowledge. One man I knew had a monthly ritual before entering the front door during his wife’s cranky times. He opened the door a crack and slipped in his hand to wave his wife’s favorite bar of chocolate into the air. Once she sniffed its intoxicating aroma, it was safe to enter.
I never tried to use this hot fudge sauce to appease my husband during his stressful times yet. All I know is that it always makes him smile. And that is a pretty good, quick and simple marriage tool, don’t you think? Appeal to all of your mate’s senses and see how easy it is to tame the beast.
