Best of Inuyasha is a soundtrack CD released in Japan that includes the opening and ending themes that appeared in the first 127 episodes of the Inuyasha anime, as well as songs from the first two Inuyasha films. The CD was released on March 26, 2003, and contains thirteen tracks. The CD booklet includes lyrics for each song (which are in Japanese), as well as information about the CD single or album that each song was originally released on. It should also be noted that the versions of the themes that appear on this CD are the full-length versions of the songs, instead of the edits that appeared in the anime.
The sequencing of the CD is a little confusing. The first two tracks make sense (V6’s “Change the World” and Dream’s “My Will”), because they are the first opening and ending theme used in the anime. After this, the order of the songs is rather puzzling. The third track is Do As Infinity’s “Deep Forest,” which is the second ending theme used in the Inuyasha anime. From here, the order is as follows: song from the second Inuyasha film, the second opening theme from the anime, the third ending theme from the anime, the fourth ending theme, another song from the second Inuyasha film, the third opening theme from the anime, the fifth ending theme, the fourth opening theme, a song from the first Inuyasha film, and then a bonus track (the song that appears on the menus of the Inuyasha DVD box sets). Personally, I think it would have made more sense to have the opening and ending themes put on the disc in order of appearance, and alternating between the openings and endings. After the themes, I would have put the three songs from the Inuyasha films, and then have put on the bonus track.
Another problem with the way the songs are sequenced on the disc, you get a spot where a lot of mid-tempo and slow songs are in one section of the disc. When I was listening to the CD and got to this point, I was starting to feel a little bogged down. However, even with its sequencing faults, it’s still a nice CD to have, because you can get most of the Inuyasha theme songs on this CD.
Unfortunately, Best of Inuyasha is not available for purchase in the United States. In order to obtain a copy of it, you will have to find a retailer who can import it from Japan for you. Your best bet would be to go through an online retailer that specializes in importing music from Japan. If you enjoy the Inuyasha theme songs, then this CD would be a good addition to your anime music CD library.
