Biopunk Subgenre

Biopunk are often books about the monsters we create – usually published as dark science fiction or horror. The punk refers to the manipulation that is done by some group – usually governmental in structure and undercover in nature – to the bio part – humans.

Not all genetically modified creatures are bad. Some are an improvement on the human species. Some, however, turn on their masters with dastardly mayhem.

The crux of a biopunk novel is not the resultant monsters but the struggle to constantly identify ourselves as sentient beings – our rights, our heritage, our potential – and our need to rage against the machine (often typified by a faceless, all-powerful government).

I have arranged the following list of BioPunk fiction and non-fiction by the author’s name. Included are the Goodreads average rating (the higher, the better), the publication information, and the Amazon ranking (the lower, the better).
