Tostitos Edge Low Carb Chips

Tostitos is jumping on the low carb bandwagon with their Edge 6g net carb chips. I am a big fan of nachos so I was quite eager to test these chips out.

First, the details. There are 9g of carbs per 10 chips, with 3g of that being fiber. There is no trans fat, and only 1g of saturated fat. The chips are made heavily with soy protein and no artificial sweeteners.

I had such success with other low carb chips that I figured Tostitos would be brilliant at it. After all they are a HUGE chip maker. But I have to admit I was quite disappointed. So disappointed that I held off on the review until we could try them in many different ways and feed them to many different people.

The issue is the soy. It makes them taste dusty /cardboardy. They also get soggy when microwaved. So the best way I found to eat them was laden with salsa and cheese and sour cream in a nachos supreme sort of dish - but even then they were soggy.

The Deliciously Slim chips (a competitor) are 8g/serving so slightly more. But they are REALLY tasty. So I personally would take those extra 2g to have the flavor I enjoy. But if you don't mind soy in general, give these a try. Maybe you won't mind the dusty aspect to the flavor, and if you're on a very tight carb budget right now, that 2g may make a difference.
