Emotional Freedom Technique
Emotional Freedom Technique, or EFT for short, is a simple and popular healing technique that can be self administered once learned. It is often referred to as the ‘tapping cure’.

The theory behind EFT is that by tapping key meridian acupuncture points in a given order you can transform self destructive beliefs, fears and negative thoughts generally.

If you have seen films such as The Secret, or What The Bleep Do We Know!? or have read self help books such as the classic You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay you will realise that our thoughts control our lives and that what happens to us in our lives is often attracted by our strongest thoughts; literally our thoughts become things.

If we hold dominant thoughts that are negative then we tend to experience our lives in a downward spiral, conversely when we emit a positive vibration with our thought patterns we tend to experience positivity in our lives. It is all deceptively simple, yet so many of us struggle to harness the power of positive thinking because the negative thought patterns have dominated our minds, often for years.

Sowing the seeds of positivity in a mind dominated by defeating thoughts is nigh on impossible, they simply get crowded out or shouted down. Tapping using EFT can help us ‘weed our garden’ of negative thoughts, leaving space for our positive affirmations to take root.

Self confessed Bellaonline fan, therapist and success coach Penny Dablin sent me her book, The Strength to be Yourself: 50 Powerful Ways to Build Your Self-esteem which takes the reader clearly through the basics EFT, showing how to tap the points and how to construct sentences to work with. She covers the key areas of life that people tend to get blocked in, including money and prosperity, anxiety stress and depression, weight and food cravings, relationships, exercise and the big one- procrastination- the big block that stops so many people achieving their goals in life.

Penny’s style is bright and breezy and very encouraging. She has a ‘you can do it’ attitude that comes through in her writing. As well as sample sentences to work with she provides case studies and plenty of wise advice.

If you’d like to get clear of persistent negative thoughts and beliefs that drag your energy down then it is worth giving EFT a try. It is cheap, simple and if you take to the process you can keep working on yourself so that those positive ideas have plenty of clear mind space in which to flourish.
