I’m always asking you to look out for synchronicity and guidance in your lives. Here’s a real life example of synchronicity that I experienced while visiting my favourite town, Glastonbury UK.
My partner and I had decided to go to Glastonbury for a day trip. We just had an urge to go there, no big plans, but I know that Glastonbury gives you answers if you go with a question, it is still the magical ‘Isle of Avalon’ under the surface and the energy of the place is very special.
I fancied looking for a book I’d last seen there, ‘The Keys of Enoch’. This was the work that my own tutor used to talk about extensively & over the years I’ve felt I really should look at it. It is hard to get hold of and rather expensive. My partner Steve had been carving beautiful copper athames and took them along to see if one of the magical shops would be interested in stocking them.
On arrival we headed straight for Growing Needs Bookstore, the one place I‘d seen the book. Last time I’d visited they hadn’t had the Keys of Enoch in stock, this time there it was. I opened the white leather bound book with its beautiful gold embossed cover & my heart sank. I knew I wasn't about to wade through the dense text. One day maybe- but I didn’t want to buy a book that would just look at me accusingly from the corner!
Nevertheless I had a ‘fizzy’ feeling of expectancy in my solar plexus. Somewhere in this store was the right book for me. I knew it would give me more direction on my spiritual path and I asked to be guided to it. Steve and I were both looking in the esoteric section with the Keys of Enoch and then I walked through to the other side of the bookshop where there were books on therapies.
A book on a display stand on the top shelf caught my eye ‘Handfasting’. I lifted it down and leafed through it for a while. We’d talked about conducting Handfastings together a few months beforehand, but hadn’t done anything about it. Steve had already performed several beautiful ceremonies for couples within his Manchester coven and I’d attended the last one for his coven High Priestess and her partner. I loved watching him work, he has exceptional presence and just the right level of gravitas.
We’d felt then that our own loving bond together and evenly balanced energy as High Priest and High Priestess would create a very special and harmonious atmosphere and that we should be combining our energies more often in this way. We knew that there were many pagan couples who were not coven members, yet would still like to have a High Priest and High Priestess for special ceremonies like Handfastings and that we could help make their day really special.
The Handfasting book was slim and a nice practical guide to arranging a Handfasting ceremony, but I thought, “Steve probably knows all this,” and I popped it back up on its stand. I’d stepped about three paces away when Steve walked up behind me waving the same book at me, saying “What do you reckon?” I thought he was being pulling my leg, and had seen me put the book back, but when I said as much he looked completely blank. I stepped back to point at the shelf it had been on & lo and behold the book was still sitting there.
It emerged that Steve had spotted the same book on the bottom shelf on the other side of the store and we realised that he must have been looking at it at exactly the same time I’d looked at the copy from the top shelf. He’d thought “I know most of this but it might be a handy reference book” and decided to bring it through to show me.
Needless to say we did make a purchase in Growing Needs that day and said a big thank you to our Guides for their excellent work! We paid good heed and now offer a Handfasting service to couples wishing to literally ‘tie the knot’.
If you are interested in arranging a Handfasting then you may find this little book a useful guide and if you are in the UK and would like to invite Steve and myself to officiate at your ceremony do please get in touch!
