When Cheri Barstow contacted me from California to say she was coming to the UK & asked whether I’d like to meet up with her I thought we’d have some fun together! I’d read her channellings from nature spirits in her book ‘Elementally Speaking’ and wondered what she’d make of some of the magical places I know in Wales.
Cheri & her companion, Canadian poet Leona Graham Elen, arrived in Wales, fresh from a stay in Glastonbury. There was an instant rapport between us and it felt rather like the meeting of old friends. I wanted to bring Cherie to my favourite spot- a small, but enchanting waterfall. I have been coming to this place for a few years and have found it immensely healing.
On the way we stopped by an ancient castle mound. It was a beautiful summer’s day, gloriously warm, unusual for these parts. However as we began to climb the mound the wind picked up & at the top really blew away any cobwebs! We made a circle & felt just a little of the power at that site. Cherie feels it is connected with Rhiannon, a figure in Welsh legend.
The panoramic view from the top of the mound is stunning; it reminds me of Lord of the Rings scenery in its magnificence. As you look at the surrounding hills it is easy to imagine the shape of a gigantic dragon’s backbone curling around you. Legend says that the last dragon in Wales sleeps here in Radnor Forest. Later that day we visited one of seven old ‘Llanfihangel churches’ that ring the area, built to keep the dragon under control. Llanfihangel translates literally as Angel Michael, although they are known in English as the St Michael’s churches.
Windblown, but exhilarated, we drove on to the waterfall. This beautiful little fall is not easy to find; a good thing, as the magic of the place would be damaged by tourism. It really belongs to the faeries, to the trees, waters and mosses, not to humankind, but you are greeted if you enter with respect and good intent. As you step into the gorge you become aware that you are literally walking into another world. The air changes, it becomes quiet and still, there is no birdsong and you feel innumerable eyes watching you from the ‘faery citadels’ that line the banks.
Cheri and I walked in silence to the foot of the waterfall, made ourselves comfortable and separately began our channelling. Strangely we finished writing within a few minutes of each other, just as a couple of walkers arrived.
Excerpts From Cheri’s Channelling
Gently glistening in the sunlight the ancient beings are there welcoming and renewing with knowledge older than man, older than we, awakening when the Mother was new. Joyous beams of light escaping your world of chaos join here with others to grow in the light of our Creator’s love…
For long before man came to your world, they existed; each with a purpose, each with a calling. Relating to all, caught up in their reality things existed unlike any you have seen. Kingdoms of golden hues, bright as the sun glistening on a hill of quartz glimpsed long ago. Ageless in their grace they were what was needed. As so existed in a world of magical beings…waters of healing…empires of glass; shards of which can be found today. In pools of light they bathed, destined to change all that would enter their world.Escaping from none, for their existence was unchallenged.
Worlds have changed, yet in this place there still exists those that dwelled within that world. The ageless creatures called The Old Ones, The Shining Ones…The Creatures of Light; sustaining this place…glistening in the water that falls, bringing within the promise of renewal. All is well here. Bring this to all but keep well the secret of this place…this hollow of long ago. For alive they are still. Awakened now by those that believe.
Excerpts From My Channelling
Listen to us, we are the stones of the stream bed. We are many yet one. The water caresses us as we lie in sun and shade ever smoothed and chattering. We are happy to just be and do not chase dragons as you do. Be stiller like us stones and you will hear much to enlighten you…
Each drop of water allows itself a moment of sparkling sunshine before falling to meet the waters of the pool where the rest is brief before running into the stream. You don’t see the water droplets trying to hang on do you? Let your life flow like water…Life is the flow and change. Life is rhythm and movement. What you were once informs who you are now, but is not the same as who you are now. You are more, but each moment of growth contains a letting go…
See the light shining through the leaves, illuminating them within…They are not lonely. They are connected always to the whole, yet they each have their own identity. Be like the leaves, clinging not to others, but allowing the connections. Do not mourn those who fall away. There is never really loss and separation is an illusion.
Tuning in I sensed the spirit at the top of the waterfall, a feminine white light who spoke to me giving some personal guidance and added
You are welcome to bring those that stand in the light. Be discerning please and let no dark ones to this place.
Later this message was repeated to me, as it was to Cheri, so alas I am not going to give you map co-ordinates, but the wisdom of the nature spirits is available to all who make time to listen and be, even within a city.
You can read more of Cheri’s channelling in her book or by visiting Elementally Speaking. I look forward to meeting her again one day.
