Sleeping, Dreaming - Dream Symbols

Sleeping, Dreaming - Dream Symbols
Most of us would find it odd to dream that we are sleeping or dreaming when we are already sleeping and dreaming, but this type of dream can indeed occur.

If you are sleeping in your dream, you may want to reflect upon whether you don't want to face reality. You may be choosing to detach from the problem or situation by "sleeping" through it, maybe even hoping that it's just a bad dream. You may need to "wake up" about something or get up and take action instead of avoiding it.

Are you exhausted in your waking life? You may be longing for rest. Take a look at whether you're trying to do too much and whether you can pare down your activities - or designate some of your work. Dreaming that you are sleeping and having a dream may mean that you long for the time to dream your own dreams.

If you dream that you are dreaming, you may be experiencing a lucid dream. Lucid dreaming occurs when we are in a state of both sleep and wakefulness. In this state, we can actually have some influence over what happens in our dream. These dreams almost always occur in around the sixth hour of sleep, or just before we wake up. When this occurs, ask yourself, "Am I dreaming?" This will help you to determine whether you are awake or asleep. Try to take note of things appearing in the dream. Can you read a sign or a clock? Some people report that they try to touch something and a few have been successful.

Some dream experts believe that if you dream that you are watching yourself sleep, you may be experiencing astral projection.
