Paulette's Tournaments

Paulette's Tournaments
The following this article is the flyer composed by Paulette Silverstone and her Assistants who are directors of the Ladies Golf of 2008 for the Old Westbury Golf and Country Club in Long Island New York. She contacted me in my Golf Editor’s email and has been sending me their creative work in organizing a great year of activities for their golfing ladies. This looks like a fun time for their LGA Members.

This flyer is part of their promotion to create interest in all their members to participate in an interesting year. This flyer showed a Yellow Brick Road even with Alice’s magic red shoes encouraging their members to come follow them to the Magic Kingdom.

It would be interesting to learn just what the Old Westbury Olympics is all about and especially the Looney Tunes or Babe Zaharias. It isn’t any wonder they have been getting a good number of members to join in the fun.
Paulette told me that their club is a private golf club with around 350 members and I checked out on their web site at https://owgolf.com. The pictures were beautiful of their club house and course. This course has a historical past as I found reading about it on their web site.

The story of Old Westbury goes back prior to the turn of the century when
William C. Whitney, then Secretary of the Navy, purchased the property and built the estate and tower in 1887. He also built the stables which housed many great thoroughbred horses. In 1961, the newly-formed Old Westbury Golf & Country Club purchased 200 acres of the estate, including the mansion house, tennis house, polo buildings, stables and tower. In addition to 27 holes of golf over three nines - Blue Grass, Overlook and Woods the Old Westbury has one of the most beautiful clubhouses in the New York metropolitan area.
They are located at 270 Wheatley Road Old Westbury, NY 11568

I have greatly enjoyed corresponding with Paulette as she is very enthusiastic about golf and we have begun to share golf ideas to help spur more ladies to this great game. I still have to check out her Monopoly game as it has many sections to look over. I am always interested in what other golf clubs do for their Ladies Day Activities. Please send me by email and I will post them here so other golf club ladies can gather many new ideas to bring to their members.

I was unable to post the picture of the yellow brick road and Alice in her red shoes. It was made by them and I could not get it to paste properly or even by posting it to my web site it would not transpose. Sorry about that but it was a very cleaver flyer. The following is their years of activities.
