In January 2005, Tharos Laboratories, Inc. introduced NYTEX™ Natural Sleep Supplement with a powerful antioxidant ingredient, PROCIDIN™ in combination with Valerian root, melatonin and B-vitamins. The company, headquartered in Foxboro, Massachusetts is a pharmaceutical and neutraceutical company focused on the development of natural products for optimal health.
"Clinical studies have shown that antioxidants help reduce oxidative stress," says Nikos Linardakis, M.D., founder and CEO of TLI. "During sleep, we want to oppose oxidative stress and rejuvenate the body. NYTEX™ is a ground-breaking product to help people attain optimal health during the most important cycle of life-their sleep cycle."
"Sleep is a growing topic of interest, and the science of sleep has gained international attention over the last several years. Sleep deprivation has been known to contribute to health issues such as weight gain and problems with daytime alertness. Most recently, this important health issue merited the December 20th cover story of Time Magazine." Says Norman Wainwright, Ph.D., Director of Research and Development for TLI.
Tharos Laboratories, Inc. claims that NYTEX™ addresses all phases of sleep, including relaxation, sleep initiation, sleep maintenance, and rejuvenation of the body, leading to stable sleep architecture. By introducing the first sleep supplement with a natural antioxidant derived from fruits, NYTEX™ removes the catalysts of irritation and restlessness at bedtime, helping to achieve restful, calm sleep. Antioxidants support the immune system and help restore the body's internal equilibrium by fighting off free radicals that are continually released through normal processes in the body. TLI's PROCIDIN™ in NYTEX™, is unlike any other antioxidant on the market. It is extracted through intricate processes from wild blueberries and select varieties of grapes to create a highly concentrated antioxidant.
As someone who has struggled with the insomnia, poor quality sleep and chronic fatigue resulting from fibromyalgia for more than fifteen years, this product has been an answer to prayer. I began using the product during a time of extreme stress and grief and I feel that I probably would not have slept at all without it.
I take one capsule about thirty minutes before bedtime and usually fall asleep within ten minutes as compared to my usual hour or two. I am even more impressed with the product's ability to help me go back to sleep if I wake up for some reason. Prior to discovering Nytex,, I could not go back to sleep at all if something woke me up. I began using the product when my husband was in the hospital. Nurses, therapists and technicians entered his room around the clock and I was able to return to sleep after each interruption.
I have tried Valerian root in the past. The first few doses seemed to help but it seemed that I quickly developed a tolerance. Melatonin, which received such high praise did nothing for me at all. I enjoy a variety of herbal teas but I haven't found them helpful during a fibromyalgia flare or other cycle of stress. My doctor prescribed the drug amitryptiline, which left me groggy and even more tired during the day. I have been using Nytex for approximately two months and it has not failed me yet. I do not use Nytex on a daily basis. I have dealt with my sleep disorder for so long that I have learned to recognize times when I am likely to have diffiiculty sleeping. I take one capsule on those nights and have been pleased with, and grateful for, the results.
Many pharmaceutical drugs can have an adverse effect on dreaming or dreams. Nytex does not seem to have an effect on my ability to dream or the quality of my dreams.
As with any natural remedy, results vary among individuals. I had high hopes for melatonin based on what others had said, but it had no effect on me. TLI states that Nytex was formulated by physicians from natural ingredients. Its safety and effectivess have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, so caution is advised.
May all your dreams come true!
