Golf Shoes Make Fashion Statement

The latest in golf technology helps golfers with a faster swing speed for a longer drive and lower scores. Technology has also improved golf apparel and including footwear. Back in the day, golf shoes were just plain uncomfortable. They were extremely heavy, did not breathe, and the only way they would be waterproof was to golf only in dry conditions.

Golf shoes today come in a variety of designs and styles. The neon yellow and hot pink colors are not reserved for women only. Golfers can also express themselves by the style of golf shoe they choose to wear, from traditional wing-tip shoes, athletic sneaker style, or casual spikeless loafers designed for on-course/off-course comfort.

Most of todayís golf shoes are ultra-lightweight for high performance, enhanced movement, and most importantly, dry feet. Features include waterproof microfiber leather, removable insoles, adjustable rubber spikes or cleats, and even a alternate spikeless nubbed outsole for easy on-course/off-course wear.

Traditional colors for menís golf shoes are still black, white, or combination thereof, with tan and camel a popular second choice. Conservative golfers who want a little spice will find a hint of red, orange or navy blue colors highlighting the basic shoe. Those brave enough to make the ultimate fashion statement will find, if you look really hard, lime green and hot pink, on the same shoe, or neon yellow and bright cobalt blue.

Womenís golf shoes offer a much greater array of rainbow colors to choose from. Pink, purple and yellow tones are muted significantly from those offered to the men. In general, as has always been the case, women have a significantly smaller overall selection of shoes to choose from.

Footwear on the golf course now includes golf sandals for both men and women. How one can keep sand out of their toes is still a mystery, unless the low handicap golfer never lands in the bunker.

The largest manufacturer of golf shoes for both men and women continues to be FootJoy. They offer the biggest variety of styles and colors in standard and hard-to-find sizes. Other quality manufacturers include Adidas, Callaway, Ecco, Nike, Puma.

All of this new technology in golf shoes will hurt you in your pocketbook but generally you get what you pay for. Most of the shoes do come with a multi-year warranty. They are built to last longer and hold up better than those of days gone by, and the comfort level offered by the new style shoes is priceless.
