A Zen garden can create a feeling of space in your home or office - or impart a sense of order and a spirit of tranquility and calm. The gardens are a means to discover the sources and strengths of our natural humanity which, according to Zen teaching, is calm, sincere and capable of facing all matters in life with calmness and perfect composure.

The indoor Zen garden is an enclosed shallow sandbox containing sand, gravel, rocks, or other natural elements. The main elements are rocks and sand, with the symbols not of water but by sand raked in patterns that suggest rippling water. Zen gardens are often, but not always, meant to be viewed from a seated perspective.
