La Mujer De Mi Hermano
Based on the novel by Jaime Bayly, "La Mujer de Mi Hermano" ("My Brother's Wife") is the story of a bitter love triangle made up of a woman, her husband, and his brother. Zoe (Bárbara Mori) has been married to her Ignacio (Christian Meier) for ten years. Although she still loves him, she is disappointed in how stagnant their marriage has become. She also secretly resents the fact that he cannot have children, but rather than admit her unhappiness, Zoe searches for excitement and passion through another man - her brother-in-law.
Scruffy artist Gonzalo (Manolo Cardona) is the opposite of his fastiduous brother and his hatred of his older brother is obvious right from the beginning. Zoe and Gonzalo often come very close to having their affair discovered by Ignacio, but it isn't until Zoe becomes pregnant that their relationship suddenly becomes dangerous.
Although this film is director Ricardo de Montreuil's first feature, he is well known for directing high quality music videos and for being the first Latin to direct a Truth campaign commercial (Truth is known for it's controversial commercials revealing the dangers of smoking). Critics are mixed in thier satisfaction with his feature film debut, but Lions Gate certainly has faith in him. "La Mujer de Mi Hermano" will be the biggest Latin film released in the United States.
The three stars in this film have already made quite a name for themselves and have a significant fan base. The exotic and lovely Bárbara Mori, who is of Japanese, Uruguayan, and Mexican descent, was discovered as a model while working as a waitress. She transitioned easily to film and television soon thereafter. Christian Meier was a popular singer and soap opera star before pursuing a film career. Columbian Manolo Cardona is well known for his roles in a variety of television series and other films. This movie also stars Gaby Espino, Beto Cuevas, Bruno Bichir, and Angélica Aragón.
This film is a limited release and may not yet be shown in your area.
