There are so many variations of the pirate theme to choose from.
Pirate costumes can also be very quick and easy to throw together from many items that you may already have – or you can go all out and have fun with sexy and romantic thigh-high boots and loose flowing tunics. Whatever your style you can probably make a pirate theme fit around you.
Try these ideas for starters, and let your creativity loose! Clothing
- White oversized linen shirt, add ruffles to the cuffs if you wish (see example at link below)
- Loose drawstring trousers in brown or beige
- Long-length tunic waistcoat
Or a corset worn over the linen shirt
Or a well-worn leather jacket
Or find a worn military-style or other long-length coat (see example at link below) in a vintage store or opportunity shop (add some gold trim if you like)
- Wide leather belt to belt over your tunic, waistcoat, or shirt
Boots
If you don’t own a pair of long boots, select a pair of your own shoes that could pass as the “feet” of a pair of boots, and make your own gaiters (boot extensions).Read my review of Pirates of the Caribbean - Dead Man's Chest DVD
