Director Marc Lawrence ("Two Weeks Notice" and "Miss Congeniality I, II") wrote and directed this new romantic film. It's the story of pop star Alex Fletcher, who in his heyday was a famous entertainer and star. Unfortunately for him, his heyday ended in the 80s. Now considered a "has been," Alex jumps at the chance to revive his career, even though he has no idea where to start.

Alex gets his chance for a comeback when a hot young pop singer asks him to sing a duet with her. The only problem is, she wants him to write the song. Although Alex agrees, he's stuck. He hasn't written a song in nearly twenty years and he's never written lyrics at all! On top of that, Alex is expected to have the song completed in less than a week. Equally determined and desperate, Alex hooks up with kooky Sophie Fisher, his plant's caretaker, who has a penchant for arranging words.

As Sophie and Alex begin working together, a romantic connection develops, which scares them both. Sophie is still recovering from a bad breakup with her last boyfriend, and Alex can't seem to stay in any relationship for long. As Sophie and Alex try to come up with a hit, they also try to allow themselves to fall in love.

This film stars two of my favorite actors, Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore. British hearthrob Grant has starred most recently in "American Dreamz" with Mandy Moore, but is perhaps best known for his roles in other romantic comedies including: "Bridget Jones's Diary," "Love Actually," and my favorite mob comedy, "Mickey Blue Eyes." Ever popular Drew Barrymore is a Hollywood darling, best known for her roles in "Fever Pitch," "50 First Dates," and "Riding In Cars With Boys." The film also stars Kristen Johnston ("Strangers with Candy," "3rd Rock From the Sun" TV series), Brad Garrett ("Til' Death" TV series), and Campbell Scott ("The Exorcism of Emily Rose," "Crashing").
