Sydney White

Since her acting debut at the age of 10 on Nickelodeon's sketch comedy series All That, Amanda Bynes has provided television and film audiences her knack for physical comedy and comic timings. When she was just 16, Entertainment Weekly noted that the young performer had a "knack for slapstick reminiscent of Lucille Ball.

At only 21, Bynes has already accomplished what it takes many actors many more years to achieve, having starred in two already successful TV series and three hit films. Most recently, in its review of the latest comedy in which she co-stars, Hairspray, The Los Angeles Times commended. "Bynes has been quietly displaying a serious comic gift for some time now.

Now, in the college comedy, Sydney White, a modern day twist is put on the old-age fairy tale, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, as a tomboy girl-next-door freshman ditches her devious sorority sisters, for a new home with a group of seven dorky outcasts. Tired of the way in which they are treated, Sydney White and the Seven Dorks wage war against the reigning campus royalty.

Sydney White, played by Amanda Bynes, is a gorgeous freshman at Southern Atlantic University who pledges her late mother's once-dignified sorority. Believing that if she fits in, she just might be able to make friends within the sorority and connect with her mother. As she attempts to survive the pledging process, which is led by an evil campus witch known as Rachel, played by Sara Paxton, Sydney comes to the realization that her expected idea of sisterhood is not even remotely close to the catty, petty, and shallow version of sisterhood that the Kappa's have become.

Sydney, having been banished from the Kappas, takes refuge in a condemned house on Greek Row, where she finally finds her rightful place among a group of seven highly socially-challenged misfits. With the help of Tyler Prince, a lovestruck frat boy played by Matt Long, Sydney and her band of socially inept companions campaign to take control of student government. Fighting for the rights of all misfits, big and small, Sydney organizes her gang to revolutionize the system, once and for all.

In a rousing and funny new film for the nerd in all of us, Bynes brings her trademark style of comedy to the story of a plumber's daughter who builds an army of dorks done wrong: Sydney White.

The creative team bringing Sydney White to the screen is led by director Joe Nussbaum and includes cinematographer Mark Irwin; editor Danny Saphire; production designer Mark Garner; costume designer Beverly Safier and composer Deborah Lurie.

Sydney White was written by Chad Gomez Creasey while studying with Peter Stark Producing Program at the Univeristy of Southern California School of Cinema-Television. and produced by James G. Robinson, Clifford Robinson and David Robinson. The film's executive producers are Guy McElwaine and Wayne Morris.
