Time to Clean Up

Guest Author - Rose Mary

Several times a year, we get the urge to clean up. It might be cleaning up our homes, our landscape, or even our lives. The beginning of the year is a good time to think about and reflect where we are heading and what we want to accomplish. It is also a good time to clean the cobwebs out of our homes, our business and thereby, lightening up our lives.

Do you need some extra cash? Then it is time to clean up the house. When doing this, collect all of the things that you don't really need. Place them in boxes and keep them for when spring finally arrives. Then it will be time to have a garage sale to get rid of these things and make some cash. The other alternative to this is to sell them on ebay right now. Remember, that if it is cluttering your home, then it may be causing confusing and clutter in your life.

Don't forget your desk and home office. This can easily become a place swimming in papers and confusion. Getting it organized now will help you to work better throughout the year. The trick is to keep it organized. Set up file folders for papers you must have and scan the rest onto your computer. It is time that we all try to embrace a paperless lifestyle. Make sure to also clean up your computer. Remove things that aren't needed and then do the final and most vital thing - backup all the information.

Now is also the time to get your finances in order and cleaned up. Set up a budget and do everything you have to in order to stick with it. No one can foresee the future, whether some unforeseen circumstances will occur, but by getting finances in line, cleaning them up and sticking to a budget you will be able to handle a difficult financial situation in a calmer and realistic way. You will have a better handle on your finances and a clearer picture of where you are heading long term.

Think about how your feel when you are outside in the open air or walking through an open field. There is nothing, no clutter. You feel free. Getting rid of clutter and confusion will help you create this environment in your home. There will be less around and you will be able to think more clearly. It is early in the new year and the best time to get a handle on your home and your life in order to free up more of your energy for the future.
